Local mayor Alexandra Cordevar said three people were killed and four wounded after gunmen opened fire at a Kurdish community center in Paris and a nearby restaurant and barbershop on Friday.
“After the dramatic filming that took place this morning, I am back in Paris to go to the scene. All my thoughts go out to the families of the victims. The perpetrators have been arrested,” said Gerard of France. Home Minister Dharmanan tweeted:
The shooting in District 10 has not been designated as a terrorist incident, but all routes are being investigated.
A man suspected of attacking has been arrested. The shooter’s motive was unclear and an investigation had been launched, said Paris prosecutor Laure Becquaud.
Beccuau told journalists at the scene that the suspect was known to police to be involved in two incidents. French Ministry of Finance in the 12th arrondissement of Paris.
Paris anti-terrorism prosecutors are “assessing” the facts about Friday’s shooting, but the investigation is still being led by the city’s judicial authorities, the anti-terrorism prosecutor told CNN on Friday.
“We are evaluating the facts to determine whether the incident constitutes an act of terrorism,” the prosecutor said.
