Twitter Files author Taibbi slams Dem congressman after accusation of ‘gaslighting’ Americans
Substack writer and journalist Matt Taibbi accused the authors of the Twitter files of “gaslighting” Americans by tweeting emails detailing interactions between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the social media giant. After denouncing it, I wrote back to California Democrat Rep. Ted Lieu.
“.@elonmusk @mtaibbi @ShellenbergerMD is gaslighting you with a misleading ‘Twitter file’ post. This is the truth. 1. The FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force shares threat indicators with businesses. That’s good. 2. Decide what the company should do with that information,” Liu said Wednesday.
“Members of Congress, why is the ‘Foreign Influence’ Task Force sending Excel spreadsheets full of joke tweets from low-follower accounts in Maryland, Kentucky, and Ohio? Why FITF? Are you spending so much time reviewing domestic speech?” Taibi said on Saturday.
Taibbi’s response comes after he released a new version of Twitter Files, outlining Twitter’s previous interactions with “other government agencies.”
