The Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies have been talking shit since last season’s Western Conference Semifinals, but Golden State veteran Draymond Green said he won the Jars after his team won 123-109 on Christmas Day. I explained why I don’t consider Morant and Co. to be rivals. .
Speaking to ESPN radio after beating the Grizzlies at Chase Center, Green said: “Rivalry [Los Angeles] Lakers-[Boston] Celtics.rivalry with us [Cleveland Cavaliers] 2015, ’16, ’17, ’18, ’19. they are rivals.
“[The Grizzlies are] A great young team with a very promising future but haven’t won enough yet to be called a rivalry. It’s not an attack on them, it’s just — to be rivals , must start hanging banners. ”
Of course, the Warriors know a lot about hanging banners. After defeating Memphis in the semifinals, Golden State won his NBA championship for the fourth time in his eighth season.
Green’s comments echo those of Grizzlies star point guard Morant, who has repeatedly said in recent months that there is no rivalry between the two teams.
But after Morant said last week that he wasn’t worried about any team in the West other than the Celtics, the Warriors certainly wanted Sunday’s game to take him at his word.
And Green revealed that he appreciates the intense atmosphere without rivalry.
“I just think of terms [rivalry] Green continued. absolutely. Is this a team we always look forward to playing against? Absolutely. Does this game elicit as much emotion as possible in them and in us? Absolutely.
“But I still think the term is used too loosely.”

With plenty of talent and one of the top records in the West, the Grizzlies are well on their way to giving the Warriors a worthy rival, but they still aren’t.
