Poole, who still had a team-high 32 points, got his second technical and was sent to the locker room with 9:20 left in the Warriors’ eventual 123-109 win.
Grizzlies big man Jaren Jackson Jr. hit a three-point shot, and Poole appeared to say something to one of the umpires, who immediately called him a technical foul. In the Warriors’ previous possession, Poole was looking for a foul on his drive to the basket for his call.
The ejection is the first in Poole’s career and he has eight technical fouls this season.
The Warriors as a team were rated six technical fouls in the game, including one each to coach Steve Kerr, veterans Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, and young forward Jonathan Cuminga.
After the game, Kerr said he was haunted by the number of technical fouls called by the Warriors, especially the second pool foul.
“He knows he can’t get a second one,” Kerr told reporters. “He’s still a young player. Jordan was great tonight. We needed his offensive firepower.” The way he started the game, he set a great tone.So the great thing about Jordan is I think he still has a level or two to get to where he really hits the ceiling. Sometimes at critical moments in the game.”
Poole made 11 of 25 shots, 3 of which were 3-of-10 from 3-point range, grabbed 3 rebounds and had 2 assists to finish plus-6. finished the match.
