Nick Foles could give the Colts a chance to compete
We don’t know what will happen to Nick Foles of the Indianapolis Colts, but that’s been the case for most of Foles’ career. Foles has had one of the strangest careers he’s had in NFL history, with some extreme ups and downs. But as Philadelphia Eagles fans say, up is pretty good.
The Foals are an unknown as the Colts face the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night. The Colts are his BetMGM and he’s a 4.5 point underdog. The line moved from 3.5 before news that Ryan was benched for Foles. Maybe that means the Colts will be worth more.
Foles, 33, hasn’t thrown a pass this season. Although he only threw 35 pitches last season, he was the starting pitcher for the Chicago Bears. The Bears won that game.
Teams often rally around a new quarterback. The same could happen with the Colts, but it’s the second half of the season now and we should be concerned about the level of motivation each team has. Watch the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
On the other side are the Chargers, who may be letting everyone down.
The Chargers have 3 of 4 wins, and it looks like a good bet for a playoff spot. This is the time when the Chargers let everyone down with heavy losses. We all know their history by now. But we get it.
The Chargers are clearly the better team in this game. Given their new quarterback, curious interim coach, and recent quirk of being completely blown in the 4th quarter, I’m not sure what to do with the Colts. It could be an interesting game, especially if a good Falls appears.
Here’s a first look at Monday’s sports betting slate:
afternoon quicklane bowl
There is always a nice midday bowl game. The Quicklane Bowl kicks off at 2:30 p.m. ET, leaving Bowling Green ahead of New Mexico State by 3.5 points. It’s always fun to play random football games on Monday afternoons.
EPL will restart
The World Cup is over and the English Premier League is back. With a huge number of games on Monday, you may miss most of them now, but it’s good to see the EPL back. At 3pm we might see the second half of Arsenal vs. West Ham United.
NBA has 7 games
After a good Christmas schedule, the NBA continues with seven more games on Monday. It’s not the best schedule as most of the marquee teams played on Sunday, but the rising Cleveland Cavaliers team’s hot Brooklyn Nets team is a really good game. The Cavaliers have him a 2.5-point favorite. The Nets are on an eight-game winning streak and will be hard to match against them as an underdog.
What’s the best bet?
Take colts and points. Falls gives them a little boost. That’s a lot of points for the home team. Ride with the weak.
