Longtime food & drink columnist Christina Waters switching gears
Longtime Santa Cruz County food and drink columnist HaChristina Waters announced In the December 20th issue of Good Times, she says she will move away from covering restaurants and food events in 2023 and focus more on covering art. For the past 35 years, Waters has published weekly columns on the local food and beverage scene in Metro’s other weekly publications Good Times, Santa Cruz Weekly and Santa Cruz Metro. Waters isn’t technically going anywhere, but as my colleague Wallace Bain said recently, her realignment of focus at Good Times is a change for weekly and local news in general. The time has come to reportin December, Good Times news editor Tony Nuñez retired to become communications manager at local nonprofit Community Bridges. The ups and downs of the news industry are natural, but it’s unclear if anyone will take her place at The Good Times.
As a local food and drink reporter, I can’t help but follow in Waters’ footsteps. I also started writing articles about local food for the Good Times, a bi-weekly column called Love At First Bite.
