Inside the travel nightmares people are sharing on social media
houston – Southwest Airlines customers and staff are having a rough holiday season, and judging by the messages left on social media, that’s an incredibly understatement.
With delays and cancellations following a devastating winter storm and its effects, those affected by conditions in the Southwest have limited options and a lot of frustration. And there are people who can help. The person trying to reassure people about their luggage, or the ticket counter employee handing out coffee to weary travelers.
Take a look at the social media posts showing delays, cancellations, and different experiences in the nightmare of the Southwest.
if you’re flying #Southwestgood luck 👏🏼 I waited in line for 2 hours and was able to walk away with a full refund and a $300 flight voucher, so it could have been worse.
Bless the Southwest employees. Some said the earliest they could rebook flights was not until the 30th. pic.twitter.com/kSDkZEXouZ

Keep in mind that not everyone can afford a rental car or hotel room, especially for multiple nights. Some people can barely afford a plane ticket. #Southwest

It may be heresy, but I also feel a lot of sympathy for facing the front. #Southwest Employees from ticket and gate agents to flight attendants to baggage handlers. They didn’t cause this mess, but now they have to deal with it.

Remember, Southwest did a great job this weekend, but don’t be mean to your ticket agents. They work and are away from their families. It is not their fault that they are understaffed. #southwest air #Southwest #BeKind

#Southwest says it is not subject to the Department of Transportation when canceling. Here’s how they did it in Denver. Neither the voucher nor at least he has a three day flight. No compensation. They knew a few days ago that they were out of staff. pic.twitter.com/xnRddHZg3e

#Southwest Baggage claim is now in BNA (Nashville)… Wow.
This is so bad. They had announced that if your bag wasn’t here they couldn’t go look for it and would start charging the costs incurred by the cancellation 😬 pic.twitter.com/924yDQS3xX
