Missing Michigan doctor found dead in icy pond near his home
A Jackson, Michigan doctor who went missing last week was found dead in a frozen pond on his property near his home on Tuesday.
Dr. Bolek Payan was last seen leaving Henry Ford Jackson Hospital on Thursday. According to his Facebook post for the Blackman-Leoni Township Department of Public Safety, the detective was able to access his video camera system at Dr. Payan’s home.
A video showed the missing doctor leaving his home on foot on Thursday afternoon.
Authorities conducted extensive searches of the property, including K-9s, drones, and officers on foot. After finding nothing on land, a hole was made in the ice of a nearby pond.

Dr. Borek Payan was found dead in a frozen pond near his home in Michigan.

Divers then found Dr. Payan’s body under the ice. Detectives said due to weather conditions and the fact that he was in the water, they believed Dr. Payan was dead before he was reported missing.
“Our thoughts are with Dr. Payang’s family and friends,” the Public Security Department said.

The Jackson County Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy and toxicology test.
Exactly how or why Dr. Payan ended up in the pond is unknown.

According to Henry Ford Health’s website, Dr. Payan specializes in psychiatry and attended the Midwestern University of Chicago School of Osteopathic Medicine.
