The Tesla Model Y became the best-selling car across Europe in November. This is his second time and it covers all cars, not just electric cars.
Over the years, Tesla cars have often been the best-selling cars in certain European markets.
But it didn’t top the list of best-selling cars across continental Europe until it took the continent by storm this September.
The automaker failed to hold its ground in October due to a shortage of shipments from China, but now November’s numbers are in, and Tesla is back on top with the Model Y.
Tesla delivered about 20,000 Model Ys in Europe last month, according to data from Automotive News Europe.
Tesla sold 19,144 premium midsize SUVs, up more than 260% year-over-year. The electric model, which dropped out of the top 50 in October, has made a huge comeback just one month after finishing as a top seller across Europe.
Early data suggests that December will be an even bigger month.
The growing popularity of the Model Y in Europe coincides with Tesla ramping up Model Y production at Gigafactory Berlin.
The automaker recently confirmed that its factory is now producing 3,000 Model Ys a week. All of these vehicles are destined for the European market, and Tesla also ships vehicles to Europe from Gigafactory Shanghai.
Elon Musk said the Model Y could be the world’s best-selling product, and it looks like he was right.
But as production ramps up, it looks like Tesla will soon be able to produce over 100,000 Model Ys a month. Tesla may have to focus on cheaper versions of the Model Y. This is not yet done in some markets. like North America.
When the “Standard Range” version hits North America, the Model Y will undoubtedly become the best-selling car in the world.
