Travel disruptions continued at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Thursday, with some passengers searching for lost luggage and others rebooking flights.
According to online flight-tracking website FlightAware, 84 flights were canceled on Thursday, 80 of them with Southwest Airlines. Miami International Airport had a total of 29 cancellations, 28 of which were with Southwest Airlines, according to an online tracker.
Passenger Jonathan Fields was at the airport looking for his lost luggage.
“We arrived here with no luggage. We received two bags on Christmas Day, but the third never arrived,” Fields said.
Another passenger had a similar experience.
“I came back on Monday, and I came back that Tuesday, and today I still don’t have my package,” Tawana Johnson said.
Southwest Airlines instructs passengers to submit baggage reports online or in person.
“If you haven’t received your baggage yet, you can send us information on how to retrieve it, free of charge,” Southwest Airlines chief commercial officer Ryan Green said.
The Department of Transportation requires airlines to compensate for damaged, delayed or lost baggage up to $3,800.
