A Robert Williams dunk delayed the Celtics’ game against the Nuggets by about 30 minutes
Williams caught a pass, threw an alley-oop, hung briefly before rising to his feet midway through the fourth quarter of Boston’s 123-111 loss to the Nuggets at Ball Arena on Sunday night.
That last part turned out to have ruined the rim.
Officials quickly stopped the game to repair the rim, which proved difficult.
After more than half an hour had passed, the referee finally balanced the rim and allowed the game to resume.
The break wasn’t completely wasted. DeAndre Jordan had a little fun with a young fan sitting courtside.
The Nuggets maintained a 110-97 lead when the game fell behind after leading nearly the entirety. They followed Nikola Jokic’s triple-double of 30 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists for a 12-point win (10th in their last 12).
Williams finished with 8 points and 6 rebounds off the Boston bench that started a four-game road trip on Sunday night. Added 25 points while shooting a /16.
