Jarry leaves Winter Classic for Penguins in loss to Bruins

Playing his first NHL outdoor game, Dessmith made 19 saves but allowed two third-period goals, the Penguins’ fifth straight loss. When Jarry left the game he was 0-0.
“I think it was uncharted territory,” the 31-year-old said. “The last time I played an outdoor game she was like 10 years ago, so just jumping into an outdoor game comes with some more challenges than a normal game.
“Overall, I was very happy with my play.”

After appearing to be a regular save earlier in the period, Jarry appeared to be slow to recover and struggling to save the Bruins forward. Thomas Nosek 13:20.
He skated to the bench during the 15:30 TV timeout, consulted with his Penguin trainer, quickly left the game, and walked slowly down the steps of the dugout to the Pittsburgh dressing room.
Jarry made eight saves.
The Winter Classic was Jarry’s first NHL outdoor game. The 27-year-old goalkeeper is 15-5-4, averaging 2.75 goals and a .918 save percentage in his 25 games this season.
DeSmith is 4-7-2 with a .911 save percentage and a 2.99 GAA.
As the second period began, Penguins emergency backup goaltender Mike Chiasson was in uniform and in goaltender gear in the third base dugout at Fenway Park.
Chiasson has no NHL experience. He is the goaltending development coach at his UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranbury, Pennsylvania, and is also the manager of his youth hockey penguins.

Chiasson played two seasons with the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2005-2006. Crosby played for Limoski from 2003 to 2005. He retired after playing his four seasons at Acadia College in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
Chiasson acts as a third goalie during Penguins practice and helps manage Jarry or DeSmith’s workload.
